Job/Person Summary

Every member of our hard working staff works together to educate and develop each child on their learning journey over their seven years in primary school.

This role might suit a new ECT who wants to gain further experience after the Covid disruptions before taking on a teacher role. Alternatively, this would also suit someone who is interested in teacher training in the future. We have an excellent local Training Alliance and many applicants have had similar experiences prior to undertaking our teacher training. We are also very happy to accept applications for experienced LSAs/SNAs or the right candidate who wants to make a difference and start the New Year in a school role!

 Key areas of work to include specifically;

• To support pupil children with additional needs, initially within an Infant class
• To support pupils in all aspects of their curriculum learning
• To adapt planning to teach groups and individuals under the direction of the class teacher
• Able to take responsibility and use own ideas to support pupils working with you
• To support and work with the teacher in testing and assessing all pupils in the class
• To deal with any class behavioural and special needs issues in conjunction with the teacher and SEND Lead
• To lead on intervention programmes to develop individual needs and to teach groups of pupils
• To conduct assessments under teacher or SEND Lead supervision
• To support effective lunch and playtime cover as a Lunchtime Supervisory Assistant within this role
• To support the class teachers with displays, administration and day to day classroom jobs

 Desirable skills and experience;

• Knowledge of how primary schools work (systems/policies/experience)
• A clear understanding about how to support learning in the classroom, and to support good behaviour management within school expectations
• Experience and qualifications relevant to the role e.g. Child development degree, teaching degree, Sports Coach qualifications, ELSA and/or specific learning support programme training
• Experience working with children in a school environment
• A ‘can do’ attitude to enable children to achieve their very best
• Positive and effective experience in supporting young children with special needs

 Essential;

• Experience working with children in an educational setting, as work or as a regular volunteer
• Empathy and kindness to support all pupils needs
• Excellent literacy and numeracy skills
• Good communication skills
• Flexible and child centred
• Ability to work well within a team
• A desire to help all children achieve
• An interested learner who will research and think how to support the needs of our pupils
