Glenwood School is a Local Authority Special School managed by Hampshire County Council. It provides a secondary education for pupils aged 11-16 who have an Education, Health and Care Plan for Special Educational Needs which fall within the moderate learning difficulties range. This includes pupils with speech and language difficulties, social communication difficulties and autism.
We are looking for an outstanding teacher to teach PE part time, alongside our existing PE teacher.
The exact specialism is negotiable, depending on the skills of the successful candidate. We are looking for a sporty, enthusiastic individual who is passionate about enabling young people with SEN to access, and succeed in, physical education. You will have an understanding of a range of SEN, including autism, and able to create an atmosphere of positivity and achievement that builds the self-esteem of our young people. You will need to be self motivated, able to meet deadlines and be confident in understanding, organising and delivering relevant accreditation options.
In return, we offer a supporting and varied teaching environment, within the network of Hampshire Special Schools. We recognise that our staff are our most important asset and will invest in your training and development, both personal and professional.
Please complete and submit HCC application form which is available to download or can be obtained from the school office together with full job description.
Visits to the school can be arranged if prevailing Covid guidelines permit – please contact the school office.
Glenwood School and Hampshire County Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.
