Job/Person Summary

School Description

Samuel Cody School is delighted to announce the opening of its brand new purposely designed SEMH unit, Cody Oaks, in September 2022. The Headteacher is seeking to recruit an experienced team to help deliver an outstanding and inclusive education for children with SEMH needs and associated difficulties. The new unit is an impressive addition to an already well-resourced school site, and provides a unique opportunity in the north of the county. The unit will eventually house ninety students, from year 5 to year 11, but will grow over three years to capacity. This is a great opportunity for individuals with SEMH experience and strong supportive skills to make a difference to our brand new cohort of students.

Job Description

We are looking for a team of Teaching Assistants to work in our purpose built special school unit supporting students who have a diagnosis of SEMH and associated difficulties, in small groups in both primary and secondary phases. The work is challenging but highly rewarding, requiring flexibility, sensitivity, a good sense of humour, patience and resilience. You will be part of a small but effective team where communication and professionalism is paramount.

You will work with individuals and groups of students, assisting in ensuring students are kept on task and complete activities set by the teacher. You will deal with behavioural and special needs issues in conjunction with the teacher, supporting the young people to manage their own emotional regulation.

Qualifications

A pass at GCSE or Level 2 equivalent in Maths and English desirable.

Experience of working with children with special educational needs is essential.

At Samuel Cody School we value equality, diversity and inclusion. Diversity and Inclusion is part of what we do every day, working to deliver our vision to build a strong society where everyone has good people around them, a purpose, and a good place to live.

Application Procedure

Unless otherwise stated, interviews will be arranged as suitable candidates are identified, so early application is strongly advised.

Application packs can be found on the school website and application forms should be emailed to adminoffice@samuelcody.hants.sch.uk
