School Description

Samuel Cody School is delighted to announce the opening of its brand new purposely designed SEMH unit, Cody Oaks, in September 2022. The Headteacher is seeking to recruit an experienced team to help deliver an outstanding and inclusive education for children with SEMH needs and associated difficulties. The new unit is an impressive addition to an already well-resourced school site, and provides a unique opportunity in the north of the county. The unit will eventually house ninety students, from year 5 to year 11, and will grow over three years to capacity. This is a great opportunity for individuals with SEMH experience and strong supportive skills to make a difference to our brand new cohort of students. Job Description


We are looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to work in our purpose built special school unit supporting students who have a diagnosis of SEMH and associated difficulties.

The post holder will have responsibility for overseeing students in the Eden Room as well as timetabling the support staff in class. This is a challenging but rewarding role that requires a level of initiative in the management of others. The work will require flexibility, sensitivity, a good sense of humour, patience and resilience. You will be part of a small but effective team where communication and professionalism is paramount.

You will deal with behavioural and special needs issues in conjunction with other staff, supporting the young people to manage their own emotional regulation.


Visits to the school are essential.


A pass at GCSE or Level 2 equivalent in Maths and English desirable.

Experience of working with children with special educational needs is essential.
