Lead Science Technician

Salary Details: Grade D Actual Salary - £18,726 – £21,103 (Full Time Equivalent £21,403 - £24,055)

Hours of Work: 37 hours per week term time + 1 week (40 weeks per year)

Job/Person Summary

Our team of enthusiastic science teachers need a Lead Technician to coordinate the efficient operation of the technical support within their department. Under the direction of the Head of Science, the successful candidate will support innovative teaching and learning within the department by facilitating engaging practical learning opportunities.


With a genuine interest in science, and a passion for sharing that knowledge, the successful candidate will become a pivotal part of a team of teachers and support staff that strives for the highest levels of student achievement within the subject. Responsibilities will also include the line management of other technicians working with the department, ensuring all Health and Safety requirements are adhered to, and that resources are effectively maintained. ICT skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively and independently that supports and complements the teachers within the department.


The Science team are based in a dedicated Science building with well-resourced classrooms for the new AQA curriculum. Crofton has a high attaining, engaged student body with students who enjoy Science. The successful candidate will be able to support and inspire our students with 21st century learning opportunities, and the department intent to broaden the offer of extra-curricular STEM activities.
