Job/Person Summary

Samuel School is community school for pupils with moderate learning difficulties and autism between the ages of 4 and 16. Our school is a successful, friendly and forward thinking school where everyone is encouraged to do their best and achieve their full potential, a place where everybody is valued and respected.

We are looking for an LSA to work in our Cody Hill unit to support pupils with ASD across both a mainstream and special school context. The post holder will work with students who have a diagnosis of a high functioning autism spectrum condition and support their learning at both Fernhill school (mainstream) and Samuel Cody School. Although you will be working across two locations, the ASD Centre is located on the Samuel Cody premises.

THE RIGHT CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

A good understanding of ASD and experience of working with children with sensory needs
A good level of Maths and English
A passion for supporting young people to help them manage the barriers presented by their ASD
An ability to work as part of a team and to use their initiative to support pupils who have a range of needs associated with having autism
Previous experience of working with pupils with ASD within a school environment, including knowledge of strategies and teaching approaches specific to young people with autism (desirable).
