Ensure children in Hampshire can access school places quickly
Join our well organised, high performing school admissions team. School admissions supports school place planning and Hampshire County Council has delivered an additional 19,100 school places since 2013. As an organisation we meet very high levels of parental preferences and the team works closely with its schools to ensure children can quickly access school places.
There are approximately 20 full time equivalent staff providing admissions services for over 500 Hampshire mainstream schools. The team handles 35,000 applications in the main admissions rounds and about 10,00 in year applications. The team co-ordinates where needed with its LA neighbours and many other authorities. The service also supports schools and families in the school admissions appeals process.
In your role, you will work closely with the other Principal Admissions Officer (PAO) taking responsibility for a large area of work, e.g. secondary admissions or primary admissions. The PAOs lead on setting admissions policy for community and voluntary controlled schools, the co-ordinated scheme, In-Year Fair Access Protocol, day to day management of in-year admissions and the major processes of the two main admissions rounds.
This is an exciting opportunity to help lead a long established, high performing team. There is a strict legislative framework to school admissions and the successful applicant will be vital in maintaining that high performance and adapting and improving the service to meet statutory requirements.
