Job/Person Summary

We are looking to appoint to our team, a Learning Support Assistant with a warm and caring nature, who is passionate about making a difference to children's lives to join our committed and supportive team.  The successful candidate will be working in the Foundation Stage, supporting a child with social, emotional and mental health difficulties.

The person appointed will need to be able to work discreetly, both inside and outside of the classroom, liaising with the class teacher and SENDCo.

We are looking for someone with:

• The ability to establish a sympathetic and understanding relationship with the child
• An understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding and the necessary and complex requirements relating to this particular role
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to keep detailed and accurate records
• The ability to follow procedures and also be able to work under your initiative
• Nurturing skills and the ability to be able to be supportive of the development of the child’s social and self-help skills
• Preferably has experience working with children with communication and interaction difficulties
• Able to work as part of a team and individually
• Good sense of humour.

We are a Character Education school, which underpins everything we do, and the children and staff use the language of virtues and growth mindset to support positive learning and behaviour management.

The role is Monday to Friday from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm, with the prospect of an additional hour each day as part of our lunchtime team. When we return to our pre-Covid timetable the hours of work will be 12:25 pm to 1:55 pm.  The position is fixed term until the end of the academic year, but there is a possibility that it will be extended beyond this time. We need someone to start as soon as possible once the appropriate safeguarding and pre-employment checks have been completed.
