The Governors and Principal are seeking an exceptional teacher with the energy and vision to teach English at Chichester Free School. This is an opportunity for a full time position, for a September 2020 start or as soon as possible (January starts will be considered).
The Governors are looking for strong academic experience but also experience of working in a school committed to our values and ideals, where the co-curricular life of the school is as vital as the rigour of the taught curriculum. You will be an outstanding educator with the ability and drive to offer the highest quality of teaching and learning. As an all through school there may be opportunities, for the right candidate, to teach across all phases, but this is primarily a secondary post.
Chichester Free School follows national pay scales; this role would be equally suitable for a newly qualified or more experienced teacher. The Upper Pay Scale would be considered for the right candidate and on the agreement of a whole school responsibility in addition to the role outlined below.
The English Department
English is celebrated throughout CFS, throughout both the Primary and Secondary phases, though teaching in Secondary you will work closely with Primary teachers to provide a co-ordinated and all through approach. The English department consists of six members of staff, and the successful candidate will be working alongside a highly experienced Head of English who has helped to grow the subject and has developed the department. The department delivers Edexcel English Language and English Literature, as well as Media Studies GCSE. GCSE results are consistently strong, with the department achieving a well above average Progress 8 score for the last three years.
There is the possibility of subject responsibility for the right candidate.
The person appointed to this post will be expected to teach English across all abilities from at least Years 7 to 11. They may also be required to do some teaching/support in the Primary phase as well as leading all-through clubs. They will also be expected to take a proactive role in the extra-curricular life of the school.
The successful candidate will:
All teachers at Chichester Free School commit themselves to contribute fully to the ethos and life of the School in and outside the classroom.
