Job/Person Summary

Graduate Full Time Teaching Assistant seeking a route into teaching (Schools Direct)

26 hours per week – Term Time

Lunchtime Supervisory Assistant 2.5 hours per week – Term Time

Fixed term until August 31st 2020

Are you a graduate with a good degree who has already decided that you would like to become a qualified teacher in 2 years’ time (Sept 2021)?

Our “Outstanding” school (Ofsted 2015) has an excellent track record in successfully supporting graduates who are aspiring teachers. We offer a year with us as a full time LSA (school hours only) and a year as a trainee teacher who is following a Schools Direct or SCITT route towards the award of Qualified Teaching Status.

If you are interested in this role, you will need to have already decided to apply to join a SCITT or a School Direct teacher training programme for a September 2020 start.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced person with the charisma and presence to engage, enthuse and effectively support our children with their learning.

If you are interested in working in a “School where ambition to be excellent is at the heart of all it does” and where the “Climate for learning is outstanding” (Ofsted 2015) you will obviously have to be able to demonstrate in your written application that you are a high quality person who has fully considered the importance of this role and have a clear understanding of how children learn.

This position is two-fold and is both to provide learning support either on a 1:1 basis or within one of our classrooms (as directed) and also to support children’s welfare and needs during the lunchtime period. The successful candidate will have had recent experience of working in a school setting.

The salary is EHCC B for the Graduate LSA (approximate pro-rata salary £11,136.00) and EHCC A for the Lunchtime Supervisory Assistant (approximate pro-rata salary £1,004.00)

Application Procedure

If selected for interview, part of the appointment process will be to plan and deliver a learning session for a small group of children.

Visits to our school to meet the Headteacher are very welcomed and strongly recommended, please call the school office on 023 8026 1900 to arrange an appointement

Further information and an application pack is available on the school website and can be found under the communities tab/vacancies.

Please note we can only accept applications submitted on the Hampshire County Council’s Support Staff Application Form

Closing date: Monday 4th November - Midday

Interview date: Thursday 7th November
