Our ‘Excellent’ Church of England School is seeking to appoint a dedicated, happy and professional Learning Support Assistant with a proven history of child-centred practice. Ability to professionally support the learning needs of children within the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 is essential. This is a temporary fixed term post linked to the needs of a child with SEND. The role is to start as soon as possible and no later than the end of October 2019.
This job vacancy, which has come about at short notice due to the placement of a child here at Marchwood who has identified SEND needs.
The role of Learning Support Assistant is a critical role in the workings of any school and often one of the most demanding – particularly when young children with specific learning or additional needs are involved. We are looking for a person who is professional, approachable, caring and conscientious yet also someone who can be adaptable and flexible when the need arises. The ability of working as a member of a team is essential.
This position is for a Learning Support Assistant who will work within a classroom setting meeting the specific needs of a children in support of the teacher. The LSA will be instrumental in ensuring that a daily programme of activities and learning are completed and that a named child (or group of children) are engaged and involved fully in their learning. There will be an expectation that LSAs will support learning wherever and whenever it is required within a weekly timetable. Any specific and targeted training will be offered through the school upon appointment and in consultation with a variety of professionals. The role will include opportunities for performance management on a termly basis – a process which allows the school to measure success, impact and progress as well as an opportunity for the LSA to pursue professional discussions and improved professional development.
