Due to an increase in classes we are still seeking to appoint one more Learning Support Assistant to our Year 3 team for the new academic year; starting as soon as possible in September. This role is for a class based LSA who will be responsible for working in partnership with the teacher to provide small group, individual and class support as well as some specific interventions. This post also includes lunchtime supervision as we believe that this helps us to provide high levels of continuity for the children throughout the day.
Heatherside Junior School is a happy, forward thinking and successful school; where children show a really positive attitude towards their learning. Behaviour is very good and the children, staff and parents all work together as a team to help everyone achieve their best.
Ideally, we would like to appoint candidates with relevant school experience but personal qualities and desire to help all children to flourish is our main criteria. A LSA2 post may be offered for candidates with a NVQ in Learning Support or other recognised, relevant professional qualifications and relevant KS2 experience.
Candidates who have not had previous LSA experience may still be considered subject to other qualifications; however proven literacy and numeracy skills are a necessary requirement and an ability to guide, support and encourage children is also essential.
We can offer you:
Further details about the LSA role is given in our Job Description which we will be happy to email or post to you. Visits to the school before the end of term are actively encouraged so that you are able to see the school in action. (There will be staff in school during some of the holiday although it is much better to be able to see the school with children in!) Visits can be arranged via our school office on 01252 617928.
Heatherside Junior School and Hampshire County Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.
