We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified or experienced LSA to provide one to one support which will enable one of our happy, enthusiastic and positive pupils (who has Downs Syndrome) to continue to enjoy a full and inclusive education at our school. The child you would be working with takes a keen and active interest in all aspects of school life and is able to access much of the curriculum alongside other children. We need someone who will help to foster independence and learning for life skills. In addition to support in lessons, this role also includes one to one teaching and the delivery of speech and language programmes and breaktime supervision.
You would be working under the direction of the classteacher/SENDco but would need to be able to adapt the learning and your questioning in a flexible and responsive way. Experience of Makaton and/or speech and language provision would be an advantage but is not essential.
Heatherside Junior is a happy and successful school where children show a really positive attitude towards their learning and work hard to be their best. Do you...
Then we would love to hear from you!
Candidates who do not have specific learning support qualifications are still most welcome to apply as we believe it is more about appointing the right person to this role. If you would like to know more about this specific post and the needs of the child you would be supporting, we would be happy to discuss this with you prior to your application.
It is always a pleasure to show people around and visits to the school before the end of term are encouraged. This can be arranged via the Admin Office on 01252 617928. Further details of this post are given in the Job Description which is available from the school by request.
Heatherside Junior School and Hampshire County Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.
