Special Needs Support Assistant Required for September 2019
We are looking to appoint a Special Needs Support Assistant with good Makaton signing skills.
The successful candidate will be required to provide communication support and guided teaching to support a child with Down Syndrome. The role is class based in Year 2, the child has an EHCP with fulltime 1:1 support and you will be part of the team.
Salary: Grade C - salary range FTE £18,426
The successful candidate will be expected to:
-Work closely with and be accountable to the class teacher, who will give guidance on the nature and extent of the support and supervision
-Plan and review regularly with the class teacher
-Meet regularly with the SENCo and class teacher and contribute to Individual learning plan
-Have a willingness to learn new skills
-Maintain a high level of support for the child’s needs
-Implement learning activities to enable the child to have access to the planned curriculum
-Help the child to develop social skills and appropriate interactions with peers.
-Have the ability to support the development of the child’s social and self-help skills
-Use a variety of positive behaviour management strategies
This role is fixed term for one year.
