Job/Person Summary

Yikes!  One of our pre-school workers has broken her arm and is out of action and our children (and staff team) need someone to step in on a fixed term contract until October half term.  There may be an option to continue the post after this time.

We are a small, 28 place pre-school attached to Stockbridge Primary School that takes children aged 2-4 years old.  We run a forest school, huge outdoor playspace and a great indoor space too and we need someone who wants to use it all!!

Our children love playing outside, rolling down our hill, playing in our huge sandpit, creating crazy things with our construction equipment and bathing their dollies in the water trough and much more besides!  As a result, we spend a good deal of time outdoors and have a healthy mix of play-based and more focused learning time.

You will be working alongside an experienced Early Years teacher and staff who have a clear vision for the direction of children’s learning in our exciting setting.

Fundamentally, we are looking for one person with three key qualities:

The desire to work hard; you get from your job what you put into it and we want someone who will take a full and active part in pre-school life school life.  Our existing team do this plus more and need someone with the same attitude to join them.

The ability to put children’s learning and development FIRST; we want a person who is able to spot children’s learning and next steps and actively do something about it to help them move forwards!  We never settle for second best – there’s always something that can be improved upon.

But most importantly;

We want you to care about our children; they get one chance at this and their early years are so crucial to getting it right for life.  We want you to be motivated by their success, know that they learn when memorable experiences are created on a daily basis and need someone who has clear boundaries but is kind and caring.

This job would be suitable for someone who has:

Working hours:

Daily start at 8.15am.  Finish time varies in agreement with other staff in the setting.

You will be on a Hampshire County Council pay scale and therefore benefit from pension support and incremental salary increases, depending on performance.
