Are you interested in becoming part of a pioneering Alternative Provision and SEMH school?

Do you want to work in an optimistic and motivating environment, supported by effective leadership at all levels?

Do you have the resilience to work in a dynamic, trauma-informed environment, with students that have social, emotional, academic and mental health needs?

If so, we would be delighted to hear from you.

The Harbour School Outreach Service is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join the Multi-Agency Behaviour Support (MABS) Service as a Lead Teacher Advisor. MABS is a fully traded service, consisting of a team of experienced Lead Teacher Advisors and Pupil and Family Practitioners, supporting children and young people, families, and schools with Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

MABS uses a trauma informed relationship-based approach to promote and develop SEMH so that all children and young people can flourish in our school communities and successfully remain or reintegrate into mainstream education.

The focus of the post will be to support staff in schools and academies across Portsmouth to meet the needs of children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs within mainstream settings. Support from MABS Lead Teacher Advisors is needs led and flexible, following a model of assess – plan – do – review. The post will be based at The Harbour School Outreach Service. The functions of the post broadly involve the following:

We are a multi-site organisation which includes The Lighthouse provision, The Vista Campus, The Bay Campus and The Bridge Campus all based within the City of Portsmouth. We also have an Outreach Support Team, The Horizon, a Reintegration and Tuition service and Hospital tuition service at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth.

The Harbour School is an AP and SEMH school for students in Portsmouth. Our students range from year 5 up to year 11. We support students that have an EHCP for SEMH, those recovering from the trauma of permanent exclusion, those that unintentionally exclude themselves from education and children who cannot access school for medical reasons. At the Harbour School, we believe in a therapeutic and trauma-informed approach to understanding behaviours in and out of the classroom.

We believe in educational equity for all learners.

If you have any questions regarding the role, then please contact Lisa Caine (Manager of Outreach) on 07740747743.
