Contract/Hours: Permanent , Full-time

Salary Type: Support Staff

Salary Details: Grade B £19,501 - £19,776 Actual (£22,737 - £23,058 FTE)

Hours of Work: Normally full-time 37 per week, 8.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Thursday, 8.00am to 3:30pm Friday, with some flexibility required but requests for part-time hours will be considered.

Job/Person Summary

We are offering an exciting opportunity to join The Hamble School during a period of rapid improvement and change under the leadership of a new Headteacher. Our vision ‘We Care, We Aim High, We Learn and Achieve Together’ encapsulates the work we do every day. Our intake numbers are increasing – we currently have 1163 students and were oversubscribed for September 2023.

We have a new enhanced SEND provision and Inclusion department. The provision operates as part of a wider curriculum offering support for students who are unable to access the mainstream curriculum across 3 newly designed rooms and interventions. 

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to work in our SEND Department to support students with a range of Special Educational Needs at KS3/KS4 in a mainstream school. The post holder will work with students who have learning, social and physical difficulties and support them across the curriculum. The ideal candidate should demonstrate enthusiasm, resilience, initiative, good time management, patience and a passion for working with and assisting young people to learn. 

Applicants must have proven literacy and numeracy skills, equivalent to GCSE Grade C and above.  Written communication must be a particular strength. Experience of working in a secondary school would be advantageous as would experience of working with students with communication and language issues and disabilities. Applicants must be willing to attend manual handling training and specific training to meet individual student needs.
